Burrs is so busy, there’s no time for lunch tomorrow. Better get stuff prepared early.

These $25 2.5GBit Realtek NICs are pretty nifty. ~300MB/second isn’t terriburrs, and for boxen that don’t have many PCIe lanes or are still on CAT5e, far away from the server room, it’s a solid 2.5x improvement over what they’ve got. I’ll likely be rolling more out later.

For these and other reasons, I’m completely out of step with most other burr furs, and really furry in general.

And I’m happy about that. It has, for the last 6-7 years or so, been a valuable automatic filter for me. People who make it through are generally engageable.

And while plenty of burrs love the pipe and smoking aesthetic, I’ve lost loved ones who smoked to lung cancer.

The first risk question MD Anderson and Johns Hopkins Cancer Centers ask you is if you smoke. “My subculture rewards it and it gets me hard” isn’t the best answer.

I see lots of mutual as posting about getting drunk or the pleasures of drinking.

Burrs hasn’t had any alcoholic beverages in over a year. I kinda wanna feel like I’m missing out? But I really don’t.

One of Burr’s recent pleasures is jumping into FaceBook threads relatives have where they’re trying to play nice with their Trump-loving friends who were triggered by a neutral post they made and unceremoniously crushing these fuckwits with the harsh truths they repeatedly deny.

Time to retire the Benchmark DAC2 HGC. The new RME ADI-2 DAC FS is brilliant. Even if it has stupid high sample frequencies that no one needs like 768kHz.

There is a special place in hell for neighbors who get their yard mowed at 7am every Saturday morning.

And Burrs would like to introduce them to it.

I don’t know why the term “thought leader” bothers me so much.

Are the people you surround yourself with so dull as to not have any original ideas? Is that what you’re after?

Or maybe you thought you were a leader, but you were so utterly and terribly mistaken.

Are managers really that bad? Why is it that I keep getting people who work for me telling me they’ve never worked with a leader like me?

I’m just honest, transparent as I’m able to be, and act as if I give a damn, because I do. Is it that fucking hard?

To be clear, Burrs has had candidates in tears. Burrs was not in fact crying. The candidates weren’t that terriburrs.

After today, I just need to lay down, sprawl, and get bellyrubs.

A shitty thing about confirmation bias in the workplace is that people have a tendency to do everything in their power to torpedo someone who has minor deficiencies each time that person does something that COULD be viewed negatively rather than try to help them grow.
